HDA participated in the 11th Annual Sasktel Challenge Cup Classic at Mission Ridge Winter Park (http://www.missionridge.ca). The real purpose of the SaskTel Classic is to raise funds for the Regina Ski Club (http://reginaskiclub.com) Alpine Adaptive Ski Program (RAASP); funds that will be used to help people with all types of disabilities, learn to ski and enjoy life that much more!
Our team consisted of four staff members, plus a skier with a disability chosen by the RAASP. This was a perfect event for us as the races were held on the bunny hill so all skiing abilities can participate. The race format was a dual race, with total team times for both morning run and afternoon run added together for the final total team time. This means that each member of our team raced down the course, once in the red course and once in the blue course, all our members times were added together for your total team time.
As a team participant, each team member entered received the following:
Take home participation award, Buffet Pizza Lunch, All day lift ticket, 1/2 hour ski lesson, Ski equipment daily rental including helmet (if you do not have your own equipment), Chance to win draw prizes and awards, and Après Ski beer token.
HDA first run was 126.15 seconds (due to an epic Neal wipeout!) and our second time was 85.50 seconds for a total time of 211.65 seconds which was fast enough to bring home a participant badge!
